Booking and Reservations
Yes, with all our online payment options, a credit card is required to make your car rental reservation.
Driver Requirements
You need to be 18 years old and have had a valid driver’s license for a year.
Insurance and Coverage
Third-party coverage and personal accident insurance are included in your rental Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).
The lessee is fully responsible for any and all damage to the car with the self-risk 350.000 ISK.
The following damages are not covered by CDW insurance: e.g. negligence, driving while intoxicated, damage to tires, headlights, windscreen, and the underside of the car, damage caused by loose rocks that get thrown at the car on gravel roads, damage to the engine of the car caused by water while, for example, trying to ford a river.
Pickup and Return
You will need a valid driver’s license in English, a valid passport, and a credit card to rent a vehicle at Go Iceland car rental. Without these items, you will not be able to collect your vehicle.
Additional Extras
Yes, we do. You can add one to your booking from the selection of optional extras when you order your vehicle.
Fuel and Maintenance
When you collect your vehicle, it will have a full tank of fuel, and the vehicle should be returned with a full tank. If the fuel tank is less than full, we will fill it up and charge for the extra fuel in addition to a small refill fee. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the locations of nearby gas stations before heading back to the airport.
Driving in Iceland
You need to rent a 4x4 to drive safely and legally on F-Roads in Iceland. Other vehicles are forbidden to drive on these roads, which typically lead through rugged and remote areas, where the road conditions can be treacherous.
