F-Roads, also known as Fjallvegur or "mountain roads", are Iceland's Highland mountain tracks that access some of the country's most spectacular and remote landscapes. These unpaved routes require 4x4 vehicles due to river crossings, volcanic ash surfaces, steep inclines, and rough terrain that would damage standard vehicles.

Key F-Roads accessible with our 4x4 campers:

• F35 (Kjölur): 170km Highland route between Gullfoss and Blönduós, passing Hveravellir geothermal area. Typically open mid-June to September.
• F26 (Sprengisandur): 200km route through the central Highlands connecting North and South Iceland. Iceland's longest and most remote F-Road.
• F208/F224 (Landmannalaugar): Access to the famous rainbow mountains and geothermal hot springs. Requires multiple river crossings.
• F550 (Kaldidalur): Shorter 40km route between Þingvellir and Borgarfjörður, suitable for F-Road beginners. Usually opens late June.

Winter (November-March): Northern Lights & Snow Adventures

All F-Roads are closed in winter, but a 4x4 camper is still the best way to chase the Northern Lights along the Ring Road — especially with snow, ice, and unpredictable conditions.
