Biking in Iceland

Omar biking around Iceland followed by a rental car from Go Iceland Car RentalIn February Omar Di Felice came back to Iceland to bike around Iceland. Yes, in February. He must be mad but we love it. To even contemplate it. We had no choice but to sponsor such a trip. We supplied him with a rental car for his crew and equipment.

Omar is really not a madman but a highly experienced biker who has done long Arctic trips and others around the world. He likes the cold for he has biked here before and in the north of Norway which gets to be much colder than Iceland.

After 5 stages, he finished his tour around Iceland, biking 1300km (808 miles) in extreme winds, seriously steep mountains, slippery roads, darkness without any incidents. We supplied Omar with a rental Suzuki Vitara, a great car for winter driving in Iceland What an accomplishment! Congratulations Omar. A job well done.

Driving around Iceland in a rental car

Biking or driving around Iceland during wintertime is an experience by its own. What Omar achieved surely is only for serious athletes with experience but driving around is something everybody can do but it is very important to always be ahead of the game by following weather developments and road conditions and never to drive when you are insecure. Better be safe than sorry.

You are always welcome to contact us to find out more what we can do for you at go@goiceland.com. Omar was kind enough to send us a bunch of wonderful pictures from his massive bike ride and we took the liberty to put them all together in a video so the rest of the world can enjoy them too.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Again, congratulations Omar! Very well done!
